Tobacco obsession to the fullest

Recently I have come to realize that I have an obsession with three different tobacco blends. That each entice and attract me through my own personal way. Each blend has it's own merits but again I lack experience to write a full blown review.

But these do capture to my imagination as to what they taste, smell, and how good they smoke. I'm hoping in the near future that I do get to try these three different blends and write an honest review.
 
But until then lets continue writing note these are my mysterious trio and yes it is biased due to my inexperience with these three.

1. Moontrance by CAO, the reasons for this is its claim to be a blend of exotic fruit, vanilla, and bourbon. Not that only I am infatuated with this blend of tobacco. It consumes my desires of smoking when I am using one of my older blends that I buy from a local tobacconist.
2. This tobacco is one of my newer obsessions so I think it is playing on my growing desire to try something new. Its name is Devil's Holiday, by Dan's Tobacco, and it has put a spell on me. The reason behind my obsession is the intrigue of its 'wild forest flavor'. But mostly due to marketing.
3. This blend of tobacco isn't caused by a particular brand, per say. It's caused by the residual flavors in the pipe's cake. The said pipe used to be owned by my grandfather, that is now in my possession. Who past away earlier this summer. Who was a modest collector and smoker. But I am getting off track, what attracts me towards this mysterious blend. Isn't sentimental, though it's part of the reason. It's because of the smell if anything else.

That smells like…………………………………………… I can't describe it perfectly so bare with me. Pine needles with a hint of Oak. Its the kind of tobacco that really brings out the nostalgia of being a pipe smoker, despite the health risks. And makes you want to pick up a pipe and smoke after a good steak and potato dinner with a glass of Jack on the rocks.

Making Your own Pipe Rack: the interlude

After taking a look and seeing that beside the churchwarden article, that most who read this blog isn't for my two cents on which tobacco to buy or which pipe is awesome or not. But building a pipe rack, getting your hands dirty and using tools that have the power to claim your use of grabbing things and ridding a bike.
I have decided to again post, with pictures, the fourth and final posting of Making Your Own Pipe Rack. Yes I am counting this as part of the series of posts. So live with that.
If you are wondering when then you'll be out of luck because of several reasons one of them is that I myself don't know when I'll resume making this fascinating blog series.

If you're looking for pipe that reminds you of the Middle Ages then all means go to Medievalcollectibles.com. But if you want a pipe, a churchwarden pipe, that reminds you of the romanticism of the Middle Ages with out the full blown taking it seriously, or just an awesome custom pipe. Then go here, for all of your custom and awesome looking pipes because frankly the person who makes these pipes has serious talent.

But because he doesn't show you may be a little wary on what he charges. But I bet it is a fair price so that he charges so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Hello,

To anyone who is still reading this blog. Sorry for not being attentive enough towards this blog. But ever since I was rejected from the Military due to my being having Aspergers syndrome. A subgroup of Autism, which means. Lets move on all righty.

So again I am sorry if I seemed to be neglecting this blog, because for the first two months and so I had been in a depressed slumped. Only now apparently after three months of being rejected I am starting to get on with my life.


So now that's done with, lets talk about pipes, pipe memorabilia, and tobacco. I have new reviews on for different shops, and I have the famed Tinderbox in my sights and I can't wait to write a review about them.

Calabash O Calabash

As I am contemplating my next pipe. I've been deciding between a Peterson, a Dunhill, a Savinelli, or a calabash pipe. Yes a calabash pipe, a elegant and extraordinary pipe. With its shape, a symbol of prestige or sexual insecurity, Quintin Taratino words not mine. A pipe that is often confused with Sherlock Holmes, a most inquisitive man.

But I am not typing this mediocre blog post. To just put an endless praise to this weird pipe, but to notify anyone, who still reads this blog. That I am going to make my own calabash, from the gourd, and post the steps on this blog. This awful, awful, blog.

Lack of Photos

If anyone who has read this blog. Then you have already notice that there are no photos, reason being is that I didn't want to make this a picture book. I also didn't want to annoy any readers with countless photos of my mediocre pipe collection.

But when I get started on Part 3 & 4 of Making Your own Pipe Rack. You'll see some photos, of the progression of what you'll be doing.

Editorial: Sutliff Private Stock

I don't know nor care about the history of the Sutliff Tobacco Co. But for one thing is for sure, is that I bought their tobacco for my meerschaum today. Though I was half expecting the flavor of peaches and cream, I forgot that the taste of tobacco will dominate every tobacco I buy.

But I thought that the tobacco was finely cut and the fragrance was noticeable, especially when it was burning. The moisture of the tobacco was perfect, not too moist but defiantly not dry. But I thought that the flavor was non existent if there was any. If there was any flavor then either it didn't exist or I smoked it too quickly to notice. But that's the one thing with tobacco companies, they tell you one thing about something while their lying at your face through marketing.

So overall I thought the tobacco was okay. I felt cheated by the lack of flavor and the price of the tobacco, but I blame that on high tobacco taxes. The moisture of the tobacco was perfect, so I wouldn't change a thing about that. The smoke was a bit rough, but that was due to my new pipe, so I won't hold that against the producer. The smell was excellent, almost good as the moisture of the tobacco. However the after smell that flavors the pipe was a bit strong for my taste.

So again I give this tobacco an O.K. It's a not so bad and not great tobacco. However I do hope that someone can recommend a good aromatic tobacco.
If they can't then well that sucks.  But that means I just need to continue looking for the perfect tobacco, on my own.
